Hello My Lovelies,
I hope you’re all doing well!!
So for those of you who don’t know, today I turned 21. It feels like just yesterday I was turning 18 and I was so excited to finally be considered an adult … but god forbid was I wrong. I didn’t quite understand the responsibilities that would come with being an ‘adult’.
I’ve been planning this post since I started my blog because I feel like it will be a really helpful & interesting post.
Paige & I are obviously more connected than we originally thought (being best mates & all), because she did the same post for her 20th Birthday which you can read here.
I don’t want to start talking like I’m ancient now because we all know 21 is still considered a ‘young adult’ but I definitely think I’ve learnt a lot of life lessons in 21 years. This list is going to include a real mixed bunch of lessons, some more important than others and some learnt a little too late.
I will never be able to say I’m ‘perfect’ and that’s not something that bothers me, as no one is perfect.
It’s fun to get things wrong!!
~~~
1 – Just be you Boo
Remember to love yourself & embrace your flaws. Don’t change just to fit in!
2 – It’s okay not to be okay
Everyone struggles at some point in life.
3 – Some people just aren’t meant to be in your life …
Whether they’re blood related or not, some people just aren’t meant to be in your life. Lets just accept that.
4 – Don’t hold grudges
Grudges make you bitter. Forgive, but you don’t have to forget.
5 – SAVE
I cannot stress this one enough!! I’m terrible with money & I’ve only just started saving, which is a real bad combination.
6 – Take care of yourself
Stay active, cleanse, moisturise however you interpret it. Just take a moment for you.
7 – Surround yourself with people who make you a better person
I remember when I first heard Demi Lovato say this in an interview and I didn’t know what she meant, now I do, the people around you should support you and encourage you to be your best. If they don’t, you really don’t need them in your life.
8 – It’s okay to fail
Lets face it, we all fail at something in life. As long as you keep going, theres nothing to be ashamed of.
9 – Your family & Friends are irreplaceable
Treasure them!
10 – Enjoy the little things in life
This ones pretty self explanatory …
11 – Make time for ‘ME’ time
A little ‘ME’ time is important sometimes. Pamper yourself!
12 – “Long distance relationships don’t work”
Bollocks. Jay & I are still going 3 years strong!
{You can read a little more about distance here}
13 – Losing people is inevitable, but you CAN get through it
Grief is hard, but you can always make it through with the right support network.
14 – Arguments aren’t the end of the world …
Arguing is just a sign you care.
15 – Dream Big
Fame, fortune … Whatever it is, you can do it, never give up.
16 – Don’t Settle
Don’t settle for 2nd best … pick your dream house, pick your dream man. You get my drift right?
17 – Don’t be ashamed to ask for help
This is one of the most important in my eyes, needing help does not mean you’re weak!!
18 – Travel as much as you can
SEE THE WORLD! Greece is next on my list.
19 – Don’t let your mistakes define you
We all make mistakes and unfortunately some people are remembered by theres. Don’t let that label define you, prove them all wrong!
20 – Never underestimate your own strength
I must admit, my strength is something that I am most proud of. I have made it through a lot of things which I would never have imagined and I could not be more proud of the person I have become.
21 – Stay Weird
I pride myself on being different & unique. ‘Weird’ is no longer an insult, its a compliment.
Thank You Chick xx
Happy belated birthday! Loved this list, particularly faves for me are that it’s ok to ask for help and to surround yourself with people who make you a better person. So important. xx
I think number 19 is my favourite, we are all nobheads every now and again, just need to dorgive ourselves so we can move on to being the better people we know we are haha! Also distance can make you stronger, I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 7 years a good portion of that has been spent long distance and you learn to cope (definitely a transition going back to not long distance though!)
