Halloween Films {Fun for all the Family}

Hello My Lovelies,

Obviously, as you can all tell by now it’s the season of pumpkin lattes, darker nights and green crème eggs (I never understood this one).

The last couple of months there has also been this new wave of crazy [killer] clowns … They’re literally everywhere and it is the scariest possible thing, I could think of happening. Imagine that, being out walking your dog late in the evening when a clown jumps out of the bushes and tries to kill you or just stands there and stares at you. Just kill me now.

I myself am not the biggest fan of Halloween, however I do love the season. September to around January time, I would say is my favourite time of the year. I mean what’s not to love about getting cozy, big warm jumpers, crunchy orange leaves and that slight bit of hope of a white Christmas. If you’re from Luton you know what I mean.

I love the snow. Especially making those first footprints in an untouched layer of snow!!

This season is the perfect season to cuddle up in your favourite cozy P.J’s, with your candles burning, fairy lights glowing, snuggling up with your loved one, or your pet watching a good movie with a hot chocolate .. Either way I’m not judging. I spend a lot of time snuggling with Buster when Jay’s not home.

In today’s blog I thought I would tell you my top movies for the Halloween season. As I’m nice … I’m doing one for all you guys out there who aren’t horror fans. Don’t worry all you horror fans, I’m in the process of writing that blog post already.

Before I go on to list them all out and explain why I love them. I understand not everyone has the same taste in movies than me. Some options you may disagree with.

I can’t do this in a particular order as there are way too many to choose from. I can’t pick favourites.

I have listed my favourite 8 films to watch around halloween, that are perfect for all the family. I have also used IMDB’s summary of the films.

Hocus Pocus!!

My #1 favourite ever film to watch at Halloween.

You literally cannot beat this film. There’s something in this film for everyone. The most important part is obviously the jokes for the adults. This film is just so comical, if you’ve never seen it. Please go and watch it!!

After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to their reign of terror once and for all.

The Addams Family & Addams Family Values

This is definitely another favourite of mine. I saw both of these films on Now TV about a year ago and I watched one after the other and I realised what I had been missing for so long. I vaguely remember watching them when I was younger. Now Morticia & Gomez, that is relationship goals. I absolutely love their relationship and the way it’s portrayed in the film. This is one of my only exceptions, where I have enjoyed the sequel more than the first movie.

A comical Gothic horror-movie-type family tries to rescue their beloved uncle from his gold-digging new love.

Monster House

This is basically an animated film about 3 kids finding out that their neighbour’s house is actually a monster. I think this is a fairly comical film and it’s perfect for the whole family. I know a lot of people will be able to relate to the character of Nebbercracker (the old man who hates children). I’m also sure that most of you out there have had a neighbour like Nebbercracker.

So first off, if you haven’t seen nor heard of Ghostbusters. Have you been living under a rock?? Ghostbusters is basically about a group of men who create their own business of ghost removals. They go round to places that have been tormented by ghosts and they remove them, using there home grown equipment.

As they are kicked out of the University do they really understand their knowledge of the paranormal and go into business for themselves. Under the new snazzy business name of ‘Ghostbusters’, and living in the old firehouse building they work out of, they are called to rid New York City of paranormal phenomenon at everyone’s whim…. for a price. They make national press as the media thinks and pressures everybody the Ghostbusters are the cause of it all. IMDB – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087332/?ref_=nv_sr_2.

The Little Vampire

This film touches my heart every time. I’m not sure what it is about this film, however I absolutely love it.

Tony who wants a friend to add some adventure to his life. What he gets is Rudolph, a vampire kid with a good appetite. The two end up inseparable, but their fun is cut short when all the hopes of the vampire race could be gone forever in single night. With Tony’s access to the daytime world, he helps them to find what they’ve always wanted. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0192255/?ref_=nv_sr_1.

Edward Scissor Hands

This film has to be one of my favourites. In fact I nearly dressed up as him for this year’s Halloween. I think he’s such a good character, he’s so sweet and misunderstood. The ending breaks my heart every time.

In a castle high on top of a hill lives an inventor’s greatest creation – Edward, a near-complete person. The creator died before he could finish Edward’s hands; instead, he is left with metal scissors for hands. Since then, he has lived alone, until a kind lady called Peg discovers him and welcomes him into her home. At first, everyone welcomes him into the community, but soon things begin to take a change for the worse. IMDB – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099487/?ref_=nv_sr_2.

Warm Bodies

This film is definitely not scary, unless you’re scared of extremely slow Zombies. This is basically about a Zombie who meets a girl that helps him feel emotion.

After a highly unusual zombie saves a still-living girl from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion events that might transform the entire lifeless world. IMDB – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588173/?ref_=nv_sr_1.

Double, Double Toil & Trouble

Now, this is the one I remember from my childhood. I used to be obsessed with Mary Kate & Ashely, especially their films. I haven’t seen this film in absolutely ages, however from what I remember it’s great. Obviously it’s more of a children’s film however I still think it’s great.

The Farmer family is in big debts; they might lose their house soon. The seven year old Farmer twins, Kelly and Lynn, decide not to let this happen. They discover that somebody really mean and shrewd is responsible for all the problems of their family: it’s their aunt Agatha! Thanks to the moon stone that she found years ago, Aunt Agatha is now a witch. She has supernatural abilities but unfortunately uses them to do bad things. She is malicious and loves injuring others, even her own family. The girls must take the magic stone from Agatha… IMDB – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106763/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl.
