Hello My Lovelies,
As most of you are aware, Jay and I are in a long distance relationship of sorts. I say ‘of sorts’ because we do see each other most weeks when he’s home from work. However, there may be times where he is sent away for a fairly long time in his line of work. I have previously spoken about our relationship in a previous post of mine, which you can find here.
Jay has been sent away for a job which is 6 months long. He will be out of the country for 3 months, with a 2-week break in the middle, before he returns to complete the final 3 months. As you can tell this is an incredibly long time to be away from your partner, so its safe to say I am trying to keep myself really busy!
In this post, I thought I would write about a couple of little tips & tricks that I’ve learned over the very nearly 3 years jay and I have been together.
***CRINGE WARNING*** I am aware some of these tricks are pretty soppy but come on … I’m without my boyfriend for 6 months …
I cannot quite explain just how important staying busy is in situations like this! I don’t know how I would cope this time around if I couldn’t throw myself into blogging. Which as you can see I have, I’m trying to up my blogging game as well as my Insta.
When I say keeping busy, you can literally do anything. Go for a walk, see your mates or even read a book. Anything that will help take your mind off things. I think the main reason it helps is because it kills time.
I am the biggest Christmas person you could meet, I absolutely love it. I spend way to much time planning the perfect gifts and you could say I maybe spend too much money, but you know what? I don’t really care because it’s my favourite, but this is the first year I just want it to be over and done with because I just want my man back! Although I have no doubts, our relationship is strong and we would do anything for each other.
Live Your Life
This is going to sound like a silly one but I know I’m the biggest culprit for this! I tend to stop going out to see my friends because I’m waiting for a call from Jay.
This time its a little different because jay only has 100 minutes of wifi to use per week, so we don’t get much time to speak to each other, those minutes are definitely precious.
So go out! Have fun! Just think of how much you’ll have to talk about when they’re back. I’m trying my best this time!
This is a new thing Jay & I thought of this time around. We’ve given ourselves some goals to work towards while he’s away, I may do a post on what my goals are but my main one is losing at least a stone and a half, which I think is definitely an achievable goal in 3 months.
In all honesty, I had no idea how to title this, what I mean by little things is something that may seem small to someone else but helps you get through the time apart. At the moment there are 3 little things that I’m doing for myself to make things a little easier.
- Ive been struggling to sleep lately, so I have been spraying jays aftershave on my pillow (Cringey, I know)
- I have a lightbox in my room, so I’ve been doing a countdown – So far we have 82 days left!!
- Lastly, I’ve been writing a little comment/thought/compliment every day and putting it in a little jar for jay to read when he’s home.
Another really important thing to do is support each. This one is pretty self-explanatory, but were both going through this so we need to try and help each other as much as we can!
Stay Weird … X
